The University Extension Programme – PEU of the Universitat Jaume I works to link territory and institution. It offers technical assistance, specific training and meeting spaces to local groups in the province of Castellón with projects on development, participation, education, heritage and contemporary art. Its objective is to accompany long-term projects where the most important and valued thing is the process and not so much the short-term results. This service is aimed at cultural agents involved in processes of socio-cultural development in rural areas.
The PEU UJI Accompaniment model is very unique and proposes a new way of relating the University and the Territory. Each of these processes are developed at the local level. The sum of all these projects accompanied by the University Extension Program constitutes a supra-municipal space for relations around culture and development and proposes new frameworks for collaboration and citizen action within the context of measures to confront the depopulation that characterizes the interior of our province.
One of the main keys of the PEU UJI is the developing of networks that connect the institution (the University) and the Territory (the people that develops cultural projects).
